BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Boca Raton man accused of striking his girlfriend and trying to force her out of a moving car in Delray Beach has been arrested after authorities in north Florida located him as a fugitive, according to court and jail records.

The Delray Beach Police Department previously requested a warrant for Nicholas Jamel Tennell, 34, after investigating a June 20, 2025, domestic incident that allegedly turned violent. Police say Tennell faces a charge of Simple Battery (F.S. 784.03(1)(a)1).

According to the probable cause affidavit, the couple began arguing inside a vehicle after a trip to Boca Raton. The woman told police Tennell grew angry when she asked about his distant behavior, allegedly shouting, “Why do you always gotta start shit? Why do you always have to be so difficult? We can never have a good day.”

As they drove through Presidente Plaza on South Congress Avenue, she opened the door to get out. Tennell allegedly accelerated, causing the door to slam against her legs, and told her to “Jump out, bitch.” When the car finally stopped, she said Tennell hit her in the head with a closed fist and pulled her by the hair before pushing her out of the vehicle and driving away.

Officers observed bruising and scratches consistent with her account, according to the report. Detectives attempted to contact Tennell but were unsuccessful, later forwarding the case to the State Attorney’s Office for a warrant.

Public records show Tennell was taken into custody by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on October 18, 2025, listed as a fugitive from justice. He was released from that facility on October 24, the same day the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office booked him into the Main Detention Center at 1:12 p.m. on the Delray Beach charge. He remains in custody without bond.

No court date has been posted as of publication.
