Boca Raton’s Erick Diaz Arrested For Leaving The Scene Of An Accident With Serious Injuries. Curses At Cops, Gives Middle Finger As He Fled The Scene. Leaves 36 Year Old Badly Injured.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man is facing a felony charge of “Leaving The Scene Of Accident With Injuries”, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Erick Diaz, 44, of 1100 NW 13th in the Boca Linda West community in Boca Raton, has been arrested early Wednesday morning by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest comes after Diaz left the scene of an accident he was involved in earlier that evening in West Boca.

Earlier that evening, at approximately 7 PM, PBSO responded to the scene of a hit and run accident near Sandalfoot and US-441 in West Boca. Deputies found the driver of a moped, 36-year-old Michael Nager, lawing on the floor, badly injured with blood coming from his head and his legs.

Responding deputies report that they observed a gray Kia heading west on Sandalfoot. Multiple witnesses pointed at the vehicle indicating that it was involved in the accident. Deputies say “Erick then went through the intersection and began saying ‘Fuck You’ as he was gesturing his middle finger.” According to the report, deputies say Erick then left the scene and was observed throwing a beer can out of the window.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene shortly after and transported Nager to Delray Medical Center as a trauma alert. Sources tell Boca Post that Nager had a broken femur and a head injury.

Deputies responded to Diaz’s residence at 1100 NW 13th Street 5 hours later and arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident. Erick told deputies someone struck his vehicle and he stuck around for a bit but ultimately left without making contact with anyone.

Diaz was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 02:27 on Wednesday morning. Court records indicate that the 44-year-old had his father present during his first appearance on Wednesday morning. A judge has set his bond at $3,000 but Diaz is still in PBSO custody as of Thursday morning.
